Manchester Photographic Gallery present two new exhibits:-
byHitman’s Early Years and Made in Manchester
Congratulations to Christian Bale for this year’s Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor in as boxer Dicky Eklund in the film The Fighter. Closer to home another boxer Richard John Hatton is featured in an exhibition of photographs by local photographer Paul Goulden. Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton is shown going through his paces with trainer Billy Graham and his younger brother Matthew also makes an appearance. If you are knowledgeable or completely unfamiliar with the world of boxing these photographs will impress with their depiction of determination, physical brilliance and rawness.
Manchester Photographic Gallery is dedicating its ground floor to iconic images of Manchester and alongside Amy Gibbings we are exhibiting the work of Paul Wolfgang Webster. Wolfgang’s images show Manchester celebrities like Tony Wilson, Foo Foo Lamar and Corrie’s Ken Barlow actor William Roache plus the architectural remnants of Manchester’s industrial and musical heritage – Library Walk, Peveril of the Peak, Band On The Wall and of course the Hacienda.
So if you like your photographs visceral, gritty, mostly black and white – but with a bit of colour come along for a viewing.
We look forward to seeing you.
